“Charlys Colleagues” – Masaki Takeuchi

Our Charlys Colleagues is slightly different this week: We would like to dedicate this blog to our Research and Development intern Masaki. His internship at our company ended last Friday. Before he took the plane home, back to Japan, we asked him a couple of questions about his time here.

Can you tell us a bit more about your tasks?
I worked on the development of web applications, that can expand the features of FRAMENCE digital twins. One app was supposed to enable the user to quickly send update images to the digital twin platform in case changes were made in the real environment. Another topic was OCR (optical character recognition) to achieve even more automation and intelligence for the digital twins.

What did you like the most during your internship?
I was able to apply what I had learned in college to my daily work tasks. I was delighted to know that what I had learned was being put to good use.

What are you going to miss, company wise?
It has been a great honor to work in research & development for a company (FRAMENCE) that is still relatively new. I will miss the chance to see how an academic technology can be put into daily use. Furthermore, the company environment was perfect. Plentiful facilities, great team of directors, co-workers, etc.

Any thoughts about Germany?
I like Germany very much, even though it is completely different from Japan in every respect. I was able to live comfortably as myself, which I enjoyed.

What are your career plans?
Initially, I was thinking of working in Japan, but now I have the idea of working in Europe, including Germany and around the world. See a bit more of the world, exploring new countries and cultures and get more global work experience.

We heard you will do a master’s degree: Did you already decide which one?
As I have used my expertise in my work, I have already been assigned to a lab that is involved in image processing (including AR and VR). I would like to do research related to the latest technologies.

It was great having you Masaki. We wish you all the luck with your master’s degree and let us keep in touch!
